After months of Beta testing by Agnes Water locals, the new $2 million skate park was officially opened by Mayor Matt Burnett last week, as plenty of residents turned out to witness the occasion in Captain Cook Lions Park.
Mayor Burnett was joined by State Member Stephen Bennett, Councillors Glenn Churchill, Cameron Wagner and Karen Davis, Deputy Mayor Muszkat, Council officers and project staff, representatives of the Gladstone Youth Council, and members of the local community. Former Councillor Rick Hanson was among those attending the opening as one of the initial approvers of the project, and representatives from Convic, the company that built the skate park, were giving away skate decks to lucky attendees.
