A major renewable energy developer is progressing plans for a large scale solar and battery energy storage project near the Gladstone region, as part of a wider push to expand clean energy infrastructure across Australia. OX2, an international renewable energy company owned by EQT, is developing a pipeline of solar, wind and storage projects designed to support Australia’s transition to renewable energy and improve long term energy security.
In Central Queensland, the company is advancing plans for a proposed solar farm and battery energy storage system approximately 4km west of Baffle Creek, 12km north of Rosedale, 60km northwest of Bundaberg, and approximately 90km southeast of Gladstone, on private land.. The project is designed to connect into Queensland’s existing electricity network and store energy for use during peak demand or periods of supply shortfall. The development is expected to create a peak construction workforce of around 300 people, along with a small number of ongoing operational roles once completed. It is also expected to deliver economic activity during construction and contribute to the region’s long term energy supply.
