SHELL QGC LNG PLANT – UPCOMING MAINTENANCE WORKS

SHELL QGC LNG PLANT – UPCOMING MAINTENANCE WORKS

Shell QGC is starting planned maintenance works at their LNG plant on Curtis Island next Monday, 20 May which will continue through until the end of this month. A predominantly local workforce will inspect, repair and replace critical equipment to ensure our operations remain safe and reliable.

Whilst this maintenance work is smaller scale than last year’s, it will create an additional 100 short-term jobs. Only one LNG train is involved with the other train remaining in production during this period, ensuring gas supply continues. The work being conducted is predominantly to replace four turbines which require specialist technicians.

Due to the nature of the maintenance, it is not anticipated that residents in Gladstone will see black smoke from flaring. If smoky flaring does occur, it will be managed via regular operational conditions and processes, complying with environmental regulations.

The safety of Shell’s QGC Businesses people, plant and the local community is their priority.
