27 Aug The GCCI 2020 Best In Business Awards
The business awards are a fantastic opportunity for businesses no matter their size to showcase and celebrate their business, their community contributions and their hard working teams. This year, for many reasons we are moving to online voting with complete transparency and fairness for businesses of all sizes and categories.
Ashleigh Kvitko CEO of Gladstone News says “Celebrating small business is a personal passion and working hand in hand to showcase the best of our region is very exciting. Gladstone News is looking forward to working closely with GCCI to elevate the event and continue to grow the community support”. Nominations open Monday the 31st of August so start planning your entries and stay tuned for nomination details. Best of luck!

Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry is proud and excited to launch the GCCI 2020 Best in Business Awards which we have taken over the running of this year. The awards are a great way to acknowledge the achievements of local businesses over the past year as well as the not for profits and other organisations in the region. It has been a very challenging year for many local businesses, and we believe that it is more important than ever to provide the opportunity to recognise the great things that local businesses have achieved.
We are changing a few things in the awards this year with some adjustments to the award categories however the major change is that we are moving the voting to an online format. This is an exciting change and I believe that it will result in a greater number of votes being received and a broader range of businesses being nominated.
The GCCI committee will also be in full control of the judging of the awards and we are very excited to hear about the great things that local businesses have achieved in the past year. Each year I have been involved in previously, I have been blown away by the amazing things that local businesses and organisations are doing in our community.
We are also delighted to announce that Gladstone News are the major sponsor of the 2020 Best in Business Awards and we would like to thank Ashleigh and the team for their support of the awards. We are sure that working together we can build on the success of awards held over the past 10 years.
I would encourage as many people as possible to submit their votes for the awards and it would be great if local businesses and organisations could share and promote the awards as it is a fantastic marketing opportunity for them as well if they get involved.
We are planning to host the event with a gala dinner in November however we do recognise that the COVID-19 issues may impact this so we have our back up plan in place which will be a virtual event. Fingers crossed we can keep progressing as we have in Gladstone and Queensland with no further restrictions, or possibly the easing of restrictions that will ensure the gala dinner can go ahead as planned.
So please look out for the launch of our voting platform in the coming days and get voting for the local businesses that you believe should be the 2020 Best in Business Award winners!
